Uplifting community and fostering the generation of wealth for NND takes on many forms. While a lot of work is focused on large-scale, long-term, sustainable opportunities, we are delighted when a moment arises where we may support individual Citizens with their entrepreneurial, educational, or career development. For a number of years now, we've been privileged to be in partnership with NND Citizen Eileen Peter's design services through her independent business, Tsehki Designs. When Eileen requested for NNDDC's support to attend the 2024 Arctic Indigenous Investment Conference in Whitehorse, Yukon, we were more than happy to offer the support.

Read about Eileen's experience below, and consider adding her to your list of partners for graphic design services.

"Attending the Arctic Indigenous Investment Conference as a new business owner was an incredible experience that left a lasting impact on me. The event provided a platform to hear discussions on reimagining access to capital for Indigenous entrepreneurs, supporting Indigenous youth, promoting sustainable development, advancing reconciliation and more. One of the most inspiring aspects was hearing from leaders and experts who are at the forefront of these initiatives. Their experiences and success stories highlighted the lasting impact Indigenous entrepreneurs and leaders in business are having on the Yukon. I gained insights into innovative funding mechanisms that could support my startup, enabling it to thrive and contribute positively to our community.

The conference facilitated meaningful connections with fellow attendees, allowing me to network with other entrepreneurs, investors, and professionals and opened new avenues for collaboration and support.

The event also celebrated our culture through performances and art exhibits, reminding us of the importance of preserving and promoting our heritage as we pursue economic development.

I appreciate the funding support granted to me from NNDDC and FNNND to visit home as part of this conference. It reinforced my commitment to grow my business and provided me with new funding opportunities to cover my startup costs, helping me meet my official launch date of September 2024.

Overall, the Arctic Indigenous Investment Conference offered an opportunity for learning and connecting. It has empowered me with the knowledge, resources, and inspiration needed to drive my startup forward and contribute to the broader goal of Indigenous economic self-determination." - Eileen Peters, Graphic Designer, NND Citizen
